Improving Diversity in the Health Professions.

Peggy Valentine1, Jacqueline Wynn2, Darius McLean3.

Abstract

The health professional workforce of North Carolina does not reflect the rich diversity of the state's population, and the underrepresentation of various demographic groups in health care may affect the health outcomes of the state's citizens. There are opportunities for educational institutions to partner with others, share successful strategies, and implement measures to promote diversity among health professionals. ©2016 by the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and The Duke Endowment.
