Data presented as mean ± SD, (95% confidence intervals).
Parameters were assessed using a questionnaire of disease knowledge. Scoring for each question ranged between 0 and 3 points (0, absence of understanding; 1, partial understanding; 2, majority of answers were correct; 3, complete understanding). Total scores were transformed into 10 fen models of scoring, which were compared with the other parameters.

Data presented as mean ± SD (95% confidence intervals).
Parameters assessed using a questionnaire of self-management behaviour. Likert 4 class scoring was used (1, never done; 2, occasionally done; 3, basically done; 4, completely done). Total scores were transformed into 10 fen models of scoring that were compared with other parameters.
