Abstract
The ends of human chromosomes have been shown recently to resemble those of simple organisms. With this in mind, we discuss the nature and possible significance of rare chromosome fusion events thought to involve telomeres, particularly those fusion events found in some tumours. Also we argue that interstitial telomere-like stretches may be particularly prone to recombination, breakage and fragility.Entities:
