Necrotizing fasciitis arising from Bartholin's abscess. Case report and review of the literature.

E P Fröhlich1, M Schein.

Abstract

A rare case of true necrotizing fasciitis arising from a spontaneously drained Bartholin's abscess is described. The presentation, diagnosis and treatment of this condition are discussed, and the literature on similar cases arising from the female genital tract is reviewed, emphasizing the importance of early and aggressive surgical excision of all involved tissues.
