Integration of cultural awareness into psychotherapy.

J Wohl1.

Abstract

Culture pervades psychotherapy regardless of whether the psychotherapy is intracultural or obviously cross-cultural. This paper looks toward an integration of cultural awareness and appreciation of cultural differences into the mainstream of psychotherapeutic theory and practice. It attempts to show how basic concepts of psychotherapy apply to cross-cultural psychotherapy.
