Glaucoma: the damage caused by pressure. XLVI Edward Jackson memorial lecture.

D R Anderson1.

Abstract

I discuss the condition of chronic glaucoma in terms that make high intraocular pressure simply one of several risk factors instead of an integral part of the disease definition. I review some of the clinical observations that constitute a basis for this perspective and explore the immediate therapeutic implications of this manner of conceptualizing the disease.
