Abstract

We report a case of ectopic gastric mucosa of the gallbladder in a 44-yr-old man. A sessile polypoid lesion 1.0 cm in diameter was seen in the body of the gallbladder, without gallstones. The polypoid lesion consisted of gastric pyloric glands and fundic glands. The surrounding mucosa consisted of ordinary gallbladder epithelium without any metaplastic change. To elucidate the characteristics of this lesion, a clinicopathological comparison was made with metaplastic polyp of the gallbladder.
