Abstract
The effects of intrarenal infusion of endothelin on renal blood flow were investigated in anesthetized dogs. Endothelin produced a biphasic change in the renal blood flow (RBF): an initial, transient increase followed by a marked, long-lasting decrease. The changes in the RBF were parallel to those in the renal cortical blood flow, whereas the changes in the medullary blood flow were less prominent. These results suggest that endothelin affects RBF, preferentially in the renal cortex.Entities:
