Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Cutaneous metaplastic synovial cyst (CMSC) is a rare cutaneous lesion characterized by a tender subcutaneous nodule, which usually occurs at the site of previous surgical or local trauma. Histologically, the lesion includes a cystic structure with villous-like projections and a lining mimicking hyperplastic synovium. CASEEntities:

A: The resected specimen showing a cystic structure with intraluminal papillary projections and loose central debris. It has a well-defined, firm, fibrous pseudocapsule; B, C: Photomicrograph of the lesion demonstrating cystic cavity containing villous structures lined by membrane resembling hyperplastic synovium (H&E; × 40, × 100).
