Secondary flexor tendon reconstruction.

J E Imbriglia1, J Hunter, W Rennie.

Abstract

Staged flexor tendon reconstruction using silicone rods is a technique that can be successfully used to salvage severely injured digits. Refinements in the technique have led to the development of an active tendon prosthesis which is under clinical investigation. Attention to technical details and a well-supervised rehabilitation program are necessary to obtain satisfactory results.
