Abstract
A rapid method for the estimation of vascularization of normal and tumor-invaded brain tissue is described. The method involves immunostaining of cryostat sections using antibodies directed against a vascular protein (type IV collagen) and an objective measurement of these vascular elements using an automatic image processing system. Significant differences between tissues of normal brains and two tumors were shown. The potential of this method with regard to forming an index of malignancy is discussed.Entities:
