Nasorespiratory function and orofacial development.

Abstract

The controversy over whether altered development of orofacial structures arises purely from expression of genetic potential or is influenced by environmental factors is reviewed. Resolving this controversy will determine the need for early intervention to permit nasal respiration and for orthodontic treatment.
