Heparin-free dialysis.

M K Ludlow.

Abstract

Heparin-free dialysis (HFD) with and without saline flushes, although not a new concept, is a strategy that can be easily employed for managing patients at high risk for bleeding. The purpose of this article is to review the concept of HFD as described in reference literature and to report on the protocol and success of using this technique at Stanford University Hospital.
