Toxic shock-like syndrome associated with Bartholin's gland abscess: case report.

R S Shearin1, J Boehlke, S Karanth.

Abstract

Herein is the first reported case of bartholinitis complicated by toxic shock-like syndrome. Streptococcal exotoxin is implicated in this case of nonmenstrual toxic shock-like syndrome, which is an increasingly recognized manifestation of streptococcal infection. Further surveillance, investigation, and reporting of streptococcal toxic shock-like syndrome are recommended.
