Successful treatment of exertional heat stroke using continuous plasma diafiltration.

Abstract

We report a case of severe exertional heat stroke with multiple organ failure successfully treated with continuous plasma diafiltration (CPDF). PDF effectively removed proinflammatory cytokines, and simultaneously, supported liver function. Furthermore, CPDF therapy showed beneficial effects on multiple organ functions. These features suggest that it is a primary treatment option for exertional heat stroke with multiple organ failure. J. Clin. Apheresis 31:490-492, 2016.
