Pulse oximetry in neonatal intensive care.

Abstract

Pulse oximetry, a noninvasive technique of measuring oxygen saturation continuously, is being used increasingly in the intensive care setting. This article provides information regarding physiologic basis and practical aspects of clinical usage of pulse oximetry in the neonate, both in medical and surgical units.
