Abstract
This chapter focuses on the selection of RNA aptamers, which bind to specific cell surface components and thus can be internalized receptor mediated. Such aptamers discriminate between different tissues, e.g., detect malignant cells, and target them or induce apoptosis through drug internalization. However, before starting the selection process the choice of an ideal target can be challenging. To give an example for the selection of cell specific aptamers, we here used the interleukin-6 receptor (IL-6R) as a target, which is presented on hepatocytes, neutrophils, monocytes, and macrophages.Entities:
