A modified anterior maxillary ostectomy.

B N Epker.

Abstract

Two basic operative approaches for anterior maxillary ostectomy have been used by most surgeons; the Wassmund (1935) and Wunderer (1962) techniques. Both have been clinically and experimentally tested and found to be sound procedures (Bell 1969, Jensen et al. 1976, Sokoloski et al. 1976). The author has developed and used for the last five years a modified surgical procedure for anterior maxillary ostectomy which has some technical advantages. The purpose of this paper is to describe this technique. No significant complications have occurred with this procedure in over eighty cases.
