Abstract
Hypermobility of the tempero-mandibular joint is a fairly common condition. It can arise from acute or chronic trauma or be present naturally as a result of a lax capsular structure. It can lead on to chronic subluxation and in rare instances to recurrent dislocation. Recurrent dislocation becomes a problem to the patient as he has to seek medical help. A variety of treatment methods have been described in the literature to deal with this problem. These methods are briefly discussed and perhaps the simplest and most effective of these methods is that described as capsular plication. Seven cases have been treated by this method over the last five years and the results of this experience are presented.Entities:
