Scanning Electrospray Microscopy with Nanopipets.

Elizabeth M Yuill1, Wenqing Shi1, John Poehlman1, Lane A Baker1.

Abstract

Electrospray from nanopipets is used to realize scanning electrospray microscopy (SESM). This technique provides an ambient, noncontact method to investigate surface topography with distance dependence of electrospray current as feedback for imaging. SESM approach curves, line scans, and images are reported. Salt deposition on the sample surface from SESM is also characterized.
