Abbreviations: CI, confidence interval; COPD, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; OR, odds ratio.
Predictors that were not significant were sex, race/ethnicity, time before first cigarette, number of cigarettes per day, diabetes, heart disease, depression, asthma, confidence, motivation, and length of previous quitline service.
This information was collected when study participants initiated the first contact with the quitline.
Age and years smoking were eliminated from consideration in the multivariate logistic analysis, which was conducted with the remaining predictors (see Results).
