Variables that were entered Step 1: presence or absence of ICU, Charlson score > 3, age > 60 years, presence of non-terminal cancer, hospitalization > 10 days, need to undergo any surgical procedure, residence in rural areas, and infection with multidrug-resistant pathogens.
