Abstract

Extramedullary plasmacytoma is a rare variant of plasmacytoma that is frequently observed in the head and neck. Primary plasmacytoma of the lung is quite rare. A 92-year-old woman presented with chest distress for 6 months with a mass detected in the right posterior thoracic cavity. Enhanced T1-weighted image showed marked enhancement of the mass. F-FDG PET/CT showed strong FDG uptake of the lesion with SUVmax of 21.9. Thoracentesis of the tumor was subsequently performed, and pathologic analysis confirmed the diagnosis of primary pulmonary plasmacytoma.
