Abstract
This article reviews the diagnosis and management of sphincter of Oddi dysfunction (SOD), including the various factors to consider before embarking on endoscopic therapy for SOD. Selection starts with patient education to include possible patient misconceptions related to symptoms caused by the pancreaticobiliary sphincter as well as reinforcing the risks associated with the diagnosis and therapy. The likelihood of relief of recurrent abdominal pain attributed to SOD is related to the classification of SOD type and a crucial consideration before considering endoscopic therapy in light of recent evidence.Entities:
