Significantly lower mean Physical Component Summary (PCS) and Mental Component Summary (MCS) scores were reported by survivors with spasticity than those without spasticity at 3 months (mean PCS difference, −7.7; 95 % confidence interval [CI] –10.7 to −4.6; P < .001 and mean MCS difference 0.8; 95 % CI, −2.2 to 3.8; P = .59) and at 1 year (mean PCS difference −6.9; 95 % CI −10.3 to −3.6; P < .001 and mean MCS difference 0.1; 95 % CI −3.3 to 3.5; P = .96) poststroke. The SF-12 was not administered at the 2-year interview.
