Abstract
Carcinogenicity of drinking water in high risk area of stomach cancer was studied through unscheduled DNA synthesis (UNS) experiment and epidemiological investigation in Zanhuang County, Hebei. Results showed that UDS cpm values in human peripheral blood lymphocytes induced by concentrated drinking water samples from high risk area of stomach cancer were much higher than those from relatively low risk area with a significant dosage-effect relationship between the water samples and UDS cpm values. The larger the cpm values of the drinking water samples were, the higher the stomach cancer mortalities would be. It indicated that the drinking water was obviously mutagenic/carcinogenic and was closely correlative with the incidence of stomach cancer.Entities:
