Synchronous parotid and nasopharyngeal Warthin tumor.

Madgar Ory1, Alon Eran2.

Abstract

BACKGROUND: Warthin tumor is the second most common benign salivary gland neoplasm after pleomorphic adenoma. Warthin tumors occur almost exclusively in the parotid gland and periparotid lymph nodes, extraparotid localization is rare. METHODS AND
RESULTS: We describe a case of a patient presenting with a synchronous unilateral parotid gland and nasopharyngeal Warthin tumor.
CONCLUSION: We propose that, although this occurrence of a synchronous parotid gland and nasopharyngeal Warthin tumor may be coincidental, it is more likely to be an effect of a systemic factor.
