Abstract

Effective antibiotic therapy is crucial for the outcome of septic patients and requires early diagnosis of β-lactam resistance in cases of Gram-negative bacteremia. Here, we report high sensitivity of the β-LACTA™ test in rapid detection of extended-spectrum β-lactamase-producing Enterobacteriaceae in blood cultures positive for Gram-negative bacilli.
