Abstract
Despite potent in vitro efficacy, most topical microbicides fail to effectively prevent HIV transmission. One reason for clinical failure may be that current microbicide testing does not reflect the environment encountered during sexual virus transmission. We discuss how preclinical microbicide development could be improved by more closely mimicking real-life conditions.Entities:
