Abstract
In an attempt to find out some fraction with high antigenic activity for the immunodiagnosis of neurocysticercosis a crude extract from Cysticercus cellulosae was fractioned by Sephadex G-200 column chromatography. The protein elution profile revealed two distinct peaks (fractions I and III) and a heterogeneous fraction containing several peaks (fraction II). The crude extract and the fractions were tested by Erythro-Lectin Immuno Test (Erythro-LIT) using cerebrospinal fluid samples from patients with neurocysticercosis. The results of Erythro-LIT antibody titers showed that most of the anticysticercus antibodies recognized antigenic components contained in the fraction II.Entities:
