Abstract
BACKGROUND: Obesity has become a major health problem among children and adolescents worldwide. This study aimed to examine the trends of overweight and obesity among childhood in China and assess their associations with family income, dietary intake, and physical activity (PA) between 1997 and 2009.Entities:

*RMB denotes Chinese currency; the per capita annual income of family was inflated to that in 2009 by adjusting for consumer price index; †Overweight and obesity was identified based upon age-and sex-specific BMI cut-off points of the IOTF. Values were expressed as percentages (n) or mean ± SD. BMI: Body mass index; MET: Metabolic equivalents of task; MVA: Moderate and vigorous activity; SA: Sedentary activity; IOTF: International Obesity Task Force; SD: Standard deviation.
