Single dose pharmacokinetics of calcium antagonist nifedipine in ethanol dependent rats.

The single dose (6 mg/kg, iv) kinetic study of calcium antagonist nifedipine was performed in plasma and brain tissue of control rat and after single and prolonged treatment with ethanol. The prolonged administration of ethanol for 6 weeks lowered the plasma concentration of nifedipine and decreased its penetration into the brain tissue. The opposite effects were shown in rats treated with ethanol for 6 months.
