Abstract
A hydroalcoholic extract of black currant (Ribes nigrum) leaves was tested on carrageenan-induced rat paw oedema. Pharmacological activity was compared with indomethacin and niflumic acid using acute and chronic (21 or 28 days) oral treatment. Black currant extract and lyophilisate revealed significant anti-inflammatory activity comparable to that seen with the reference substances, but without their ulcerogenic potential, even at high doses during chronic treatment.Entities:
