Abstract
Negative pressure wound therpay (NPWT) has revolutionised the management of chronic wounds, particularly pressure ulcers (PU). Frequently, PUs are too large to close primarily, so NPWT is used to assist in management on an outpatient basis. If not closely monitored, NPWT closure foam can be accidentally left in patients. Here we describe two cases where NPWT closure foam was left in patients resulting in persistent infections. Additionally, some suggestions of how to help avoid these should be 'never' events are provided.Entities:
