Figure 1The association between the measured concentration of H+ and the concentration of H+ calculated using the simplified strong ion equation and the published values of Atot and K a in 10 dogs.3 There was no significant association (P = 0.4985, r 2 = 0.0678). Solid line = regression line, dashed line = line of identity.
Figure 2The association between the measured concentration of H+ and the calculated concentration of H+ in 10 dogs (P < 0.001; r 2 = 0.9767). The H+ was calculated using the simplified strong ion equation, published values of Atot and K a, and the effective strong ion difference was substituted for the calculated SID.3 Solid line = regression line, dashed line = line of identity.
