Abstract
BACKGROUND: Dense red blood cells (DRBCs) are associated with chronic clinical manifestations of sickle-cell-disease (SCD). Hydroxyurea (HU) decreases the percent (%) DRBCs, thereby improving its therapeutic benefits, especially the prevention of SCD clinical complications, but parameters influencing %DRBCs remain unknown.
