Surface Analytical Methods Applied to Magnesium Corrosion.

Philippe Dauphin-Ducharme1, Janine Mauzeroll1.

Abstract

Understanding magnesium alloy corrosion is of primary concern, and scanning probe techniques are becoming key analytical characterization methods for that purpose. This Feature presents recent trends in this field as the progressive substitution of steel and aluminum car components by magnesium alloys to reduce the overall weight of vehicles is an irreversible trend.
