There are currently six beta-adrenoceptor blocking drugs on the market. Although all the drugs competitively interact with the beta-adrenergic receptors, their pharmacokinetics and ancillary properties distinguish them from one another. By understanding these differences, the various beta-adrenoceptor drugs can be rationally used to a therapeutic advantage.
