Abstract
Klebsiella oxytoca endocarditis developed in an 87-year-old man after transurethral resection of the prostate gland. He was treated for K oxytoca urinary tract infection and septicemia seven weeks before admission. Fever and bacteremia persisted for ten days during therapy for endocarditis. He was treated with a combination of cefazolin and tobramycin for six weeks. Despite peak serum bactericidal titers of only 1:4, the patient recovered completely and was apparently healthy at followup two years later.Entities:
