Orofacial signs of child abuse and neglect: a dental perspective.

J B Ambrose1.

Abstract

Fifty percent of all physical injuries resulting from child abuse involve the head and neck, with trauma to the head being the most frequent cause of death. Health professionals can assume a primary role in detecting and reporting child abuse and neglect through awareness of the most prevalent orofacial signs and symptoms of this problem.
