Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease stage classification according to GOLD Guidelines.
| Stage I: | |
| mild COPD | FEV1/CVF < 70% andFEV1 ≥ 80% |
| Stage II: | |
| moderate COPD | FEV1/CVF < 70% and 50% ≤ FEV1< 80% |
| Stage III: | |
| severe COPD | FEV1/CVF < 70% and 30% ≤ FEV1< 50% |
| Stage IV: | |
| very severe COPD | FEV1/CVF < 70% and FEV1< 30% |
COPD = Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; FEVl=Forced expiratory volume in 1 second; FVC=forced vital capacity; GOLD =Global Initiative for Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease
