Abstract
Exploiting the inflammatory response on biomaterials research and development requires an in-depth understanding of the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the events comprising the tissue response continuum. Examples of how the biomaterial surface chemistry may modulate the foreign body reaction to biomaterials. The utilization of different surface chemistries on biomaterials may provide biological design criteria for the appropriate use and function of biomaterials when used in medical devices and prostheses.Mesh:
