Abstract
In patients undergoing coronary bypass grafting, we noticed that low-dose aspirin failed to inhibit platelet aggregation, potentially elevating the risk of thrombotic bypass occlusion. This "high on-treatment platelet reactivity" was reproducible in vitro and could be transferred with patient plasma or urine to aspirin-sensitive donor platelets, suggesting a drug/drug interaction. Loss of aspirin efficacy was associated with analgesia by dipyrone (metamizol) and initiated further study of the interaction between aspirin and other nonopioid analgesics.Entities:
