Abstract
This review addresses current treatment strategies for nonvalvular atrial fibrillation (AF) and their potential impact on thromboembolic risk and complications. It updates current classification schemes for the arrhythmia and discusses specific treatment alternatives including rate control, pharmacologic rhythm suppression, catheter ablation, and left atrial appendage obliteration, each in context of thromboembolic risks and stroke prevention.Entities:
