Abstract
Nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM) joint involvement is rare. However, the incidence of NTM disease is increasing and it is difficult to distinguish NTM from Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB). Here, the clinical characteristics of NTM joint involvement were compared with those of MTB. Distal joint involvement and precipitating factors were significantly more frequent for NTM joint infections. Because pathologic findings of NTM and MTB were similar, microbiological investigations are needed.Entities:
