Abstract
BACKGROUND: The ageing process may lead to reductions in physical fitness, a known risk factor in the development of metabolic syndrome. The purpose of the current study was to evaluate cross-sectional and combined associations of metabolic syndrome with body composition and physical fitness in a community based geriatric population.Entities:

a The univariate analysis disclosed the crude associations of metabolic syndrome with each parameter, whereas the multivariate analysis reported the adjusted values by including all the measurements of body composition in the regression model. The associations were represented by the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI).
