Abstract
BACKGROUND: The ratio of the maximum diameter of consolidation to the maximum tumor diameter (C/T ratio) on thin-section computed tomography (TSCT) and the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on 18 F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) are often used as preoperative independent variables to evaluate the invasiveness of lung adenocarcinoma. We investigated the associations between these independent variables and pathologic invasiveness in pulmonary adenocarcinomas.Entities:

Figure 1Example of the consolidation/tumor (C/T) ratio measurement on thin-section computed tomography. C/T ratio (%) = maximum diameter of consolidation (black arrow)/maximum diameter of tumor (white arrow) × 100.
Figure 2Study cohort flow chart. A total of 218 lung cancers of ≤ 30 mm in diameter were found from PET/CT and clinical records for a 4-year period. After exclusion, 163 adenocarcinomas were included in our analysis.
