Abstract
So-called fibrohistiocytic tumors of the skin comprise a heterogeneous spectrum of superficially located neoplasms that often show fibroblastic and/or myofibroblastic differentiation. In this review clinicopathologically important variants of dermatofibroma and dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans and their differential diagnoses are discussed in detail. In addition, the clinicopathological features of atypical fibroxanthoma, angiomatoid fibrous histiocytoma, plexiform fibrohistiocytic tumors and pleomorphic dermal sarcoma are presented. Entities that have to be considered in the differential diagnosis are also mentioned.Entities:
