Sir,We would like to discuss on the report on “trataka and cognitive function.”[1] Talwadkar et al. reported that “Trataka can be used as a technique to enhance cognition in the elderly.”[1] In fact, trataka is a classical yoga technique that is proven for its usefulness in neuroophthalmology.[23] It is also proven that trataka can result in improvement of critical flicker fusion,[3] which also implies the improvement of cognitive function.[4] However, the important consideration on using trataka is the feasibility of practicing among the elderly. Staring at objects might be inappropriate in the cases with eye sight problem. Too much gazing might deteriorate the eye sight. This should be kept in mind for applying this technique in the elderly.
