Abstract
The physical map of the Haemophilus parainfluenzae chromosome is circular and approx. 2340 kb in circumference. The size of the map was determined by digesting agarose-immobilized chromosomes with the restriction enzymes, NotI (GCGGCCGC), RsrII (CGGATCCG) and ApaI (GGGCCC), and using field-inversion gel electrophoresis to resolve the resulting fragments. The enzymes digest the H. parainfluenzae genome into 7, 10, and 18 fragments, respectively. The map order of the fragments was obtained by using Southern-blot hybridization to establish overlapping regions.Entities:
